|Stanwell is a small village on the road between Rockhampton and Blackwater, in Queensland. It was once a staging post for pioneers moving from the inland downs to the township of Rockhampton, and is nowadays the location for a power station as well as a point on the coal-carrying railway running from the coalfields down to the coastal town and port of Gladstone, Rockhampton not having any port facilities at all.|
The cemetery is set back from the road and is overlooked by old trees that keep it cool and somewhat old-worldly. It is somewhat overgrown, but recent attempts to improve it seem to be working.
