Pentland is one of the hamlets on the Flinders Highway, on the eastern side of Hughenden. That's the long and boring bit that goes from Charters Towers all the way west to Cloncurry before any hills show again.
In the wet season it is common for the road to get closed as the seasonal floods try to escape the flat land.
