Mt. Molloy

Mt. Molloy is when you REALLY know you are travelling up the Cape York Peninsula. You are half an hour out of Mareeba, travelling north, and the termite mounts are suddenly bigger, and you find that the previously common small roads that turn off each side no longer seem as plentiful. On the left lakes and hills slowly grow and become identities without names.
On the right the ridges are slowly growing and sort of looming, and you begin to have anxious attacks of check-the-fuel. The road actually curves around the case of the mountains, and abruptly there is a small township. Mt. Molloy. Here you can turn off for the coast and the comforting damp of Pt. Douglas and the Daintree, but not to do so leads you ever west and North.
The cemetery itself is on the left, jut before you slow for the smattering of houses on their ridge-top perches. Look for the rubbish tip, and take that road...
